Exploring Landscape Painting
Exploring Landscape Painting
An in-person workshop in Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK
Spend two days with me exploring the different elements that make up a landscape painting. On day one we will experiment with different applications of paint and observe how they interact to create space, shape and texture. Each approach is a chance to connect with your own intuitive way of interpreting the landscape and to delve deeper into your personal motivations for painting.
We will spend time sketching the surrounding countryside as well as using unusual and expressive techniques. The aim of these exercises is to find our own way of connecting with the lines and shapes of the landscape before working from these sketches to create our own paintings on day two.
This is a structured workshop designed to introduce you to the formal concepts of landscape painting in an exciting and student-centred way. The focus of this weekend is less on producing a finished piece of work but on experimentation and play as a way of adding knowledge to your toolbox. All the techniques you try across the two days can be adapted to your way of working so that you never have to sit there wondering where to start again.
